On August 15th, 10 planes drop about 140 paratroopers from the 3rd Battalion Headquarters, G and H Companies, and the Regimental Headquarters. When G Company is assembled, 2nd Platoon Leader Arthur W. Ridler takes command in the absence of Capt. Grant A. Hooper, who landed in Saint-Cézaire. In the morning, his group of paratroopers joins the D562 and links up with Capt. Joseph McGeever's group.
Aid stations are set up in Callian, Montauroux, and Fayence, where the wounded from all camps are treated. In Montauroux, Capt. Walter Plassmann, a surgeon from the Medical Detachment of the 3/517th PIR, sets up in an old sanatorium facing the church.
Around August 18th, the Germans return to the Fayence area and occupy Montauroux. Capt. Plassmann treats both American paratroopers and French civilians, as well as German soldiers. Some paratroopers, including 1st Lt. McElroy from G Co., stay in Montauroux and engage with German troops.
On August 20th, a patrol from Task Force Eitt (141st IR) enters Montauroux and finds the village empty of Germans.
